Salem’s Lot 2024 - Movie Review by Josh

Hey, All Josh, here, sorry about the big gap between posts, I was traveling for a few weeks for vacation. There are two reviews coming so be ready! This version of Salem’s Lot is a remake of 1975. It’s a Stephen King story, so you know it’s going to be good. I recommend this movie especially with-it being Halloween and overall, it was a very good movie!

This version of Salem’s Lot was a remake of 1975. This is written by Stephen King, so you know it’s going to be good.

Premise of the story:

There is a small town called Salem’s Lot which has an old, abandoned house on the edge of it. There is a series of people going missing, but no one is asking why, most are just saying well they probably moved away or something like that.

The Story:

The movie starts off with a gentleman being paid to take a giant box to the cellar of this old house. The one rule is to not open the box, and to be careful with it and you can’t ask what’s in it. Of course, they drop the box when they get into the basement and crack the edge, but you never see what comes out. The main protagonist is a writer who comes back to the town because he wants his big story. When he drives by the house it seems like someone is living there even though it’s supposed to be abandoned. Once he starts writing the story, there are some weird things beginning to happen and people start asking questions. At one point in the story, you see someone stalking two boys in the woods and kidnap one of them.

The kid is taken to the house and then sacrificed to this entity.  He calls it the fly man but you never seen what it is, just hear the brutality of it. Then you never see the kid again, so everyone thinks he just went missing. You see the kid who was sacrificed at the window of his brother, and then he goes out to get him, he is attacked. The kid then goes to the hospital with a weird disease and passes from it. When he is buried, the caretaker is trying to bury him, but he hears him say let me out from the coffin. When he goes to open the coffin, the kid is still dead. When he goes to put more dirt on the coffin, it’s empty. Then he is attacked by the dead kid.

First thoughts and spoilers:

I had never seen the original, so I did not know what to expect. I was thinking something like demonic spirit. The town seems to be haunted by whatever that thing is, but I’m not sure what it is doing. *** CAUTION, BELOW ARE SPOILERS! ***

 Spoilers:

  • The thing that was in the basement was a vampire

  • When the kid is sacrificed, he becomes a ghost but still has vampiric powers

  • Where are all the missing bodies going?

  • Drive in theater in the trunks of their cars.

  • Does the main character make it out alive?

  • He does and kills the main vampire.
