Pen Pal - “CreepyPasta” Review by Josh
This was the most recent Creepcast Podcast I listened to. Yet another story that had me unable to put it down.

I WILL GIVE THIS DISCLOSURE HERE; THIS COULD TRIGGER SOME PEOPLE! ***
This story was a gut wrenching one at times. I found myself in one place mentally at the beginning and then a whole other place at the end.
Characters:
With one main protagonist that I cannot remember even being told a name, which makes it even more unnerving. Seems to live with his single mother, implying this because you never see a father figure in the writing. It is a story of a young kid talking about his life and what got him to the point he is right now.
Josh : His best friend, and probably one of the only friends he has.
Miss Maggie : Neighbor to the house they move into.
Josh’s dad : You will see why this is important later
Story:
This story starts off very innocently, you have a kindergarten class that uses balloons to try and reach the outside world. The premise is you write a letter and then put it on a balloon and let it go. With the hope that it will get someone to write you back. Innocent enough right….
Well, this story is not innocent…
My first thought was something paranormal. The protagonist wakes up in the middle of the woods on thorns, but doesn’t have any cuts, a shark floaty near him, which will set the stage for later. He has no recollection of how he got to that point in the woods but starts running towards his house. When he gets to the house, there is a set of hands that grab him from behind and say something in a deep voice. Which just shook me to my core. He starts panicking and kicks back, well once he comes to, his mom ends up being the one holding him, and said he ran away. Puzzled, he asked why she thought that. There was a note on his pillow that was written by “him” but as a misspelled “him”, odd right? He goes to sleep that night and starts hearing footsteps around him but doesn’t know where they are coming from. He begins to start receiving polaroids of himself, or people around him.
Which then starts making me lean more towards a child predator. That’s where this got more real for me, if this was the case then my paranormal thought was just someone stalking our main character.
Throughout the story he is trying to explain all these weird things that are happening to him, he gets a cat, but when his mom goes into the crawlspace to find the cat, she comes back and says we must leave right now. Not even enough time to get his clothes. They move across town, as far away from the house as they could get and afford.
At this point I was still not sure if this was a predator or a paranormal entity. There was enough backing to really achieve both. Weird things kept happening throughout the entire story.
Without spoiling too much here I am going to go to my spoilers on the next page and some of the questions I came up with while reading this.
Final thoughts:
This story was gut wrenching. I don't want to spoil too much because I feel like you must see it to really understand why it’s unnerving. From the beginning to the end there is just as nerve racking and never explains why someone would do what they did, other than what the reader can assume from the text. Thanks for reading this review and I hope it makes you want to listen to this terrifying story.

Questions:
What is following this kid?
Why would he hear footsteps in his house when no one is awake?
Why would the protagonist be targeted?
Why was there just a shark pool float in the middle of the woods close to his house?
Answers:
It was someone following him and basically stalking him, but not a predator, well not that we know of.
The person following him was living under his floorboards in the crawlspace.
The scariest part of this was just because there was no rhyme or reason that we knew of, other than maybe he was just lonely and had no friends.
The person that was following him was living in the woods before he moved into the house.
