Megan Is Missing Returns in a Very Different Way

Here's one I definitely didn't have on my 2026 horror bingo card.

Megan Is Missing has returned through a new project called Evil Never Dies, created by original director Michael Goi. Rather than simply making another traditional movie, the story was released as a vertical series through Instagram and TikTok, with the complete series becoming available October 30.

Considering the original movie found an entirely new audience after exploding on TikTok years after its original release, there's something weirdly appropriate about continuing the story directly through social media.

My Take: I'm honestly fascinated by horror experimenting with formats like this. When the platform you're casually scrolling suddenly becomes part of the storytelling, it can make things feel just a little more uncomfortable.

November's Horror Streaming Lineup Is Surprisingly Solid

Spooky season might technically be over, but the streaming services aren't completely abandoning us.

November kicked off with a pretty solid collection of horror. Netflix added Insidious: Chapter 2, Insidious: Chapter 3, and several Resident Evil films, while HBO Max added the original Scream. Prime Video added They Will Kill You, and later this month Netflix gets Curry Barker's Obsession.

Meanwhile, Peacock is getting Alien: Romulus on November 21 and the unrated version of M3GAN 2.0 on November 26.

Apparently we're allowed to keep Halloween going a little longer…

Horror Gaming

WORLD OF HORROR Gets a Free Update

One of the coolest surprise drops around Halloween was a new update for WORLD OF HORROR.

The"AS BELOW SO ABOVE" update arrived October 30 as a free PC update, giving fans another reason to return to the game's wonderfully bizarre combination of Junji Ito-inspired cosmic horror and old-school RPG mechanics.

If you've never played this one, the entire thing basically looks like somebody discovered a cursed black-and-white computer game from 1987.

And I mean that as a compliment.

Hunter: The Reckoning – Deathwish Shows Off Character Creation

This one definitely caught my attention as a longtime VtM / World of Darkness fan!

On November 1, Teyon released a new developer diary showing off the character-creation system for Hunter: The Reckoning – Deathwish.

The Hunter universe has always been interesting because you're essentially playing ordinary people trying to fight things that absolutely should be able to kill them. Seeing the new game lean further into creating your own hunter could make that concept even better.

As someone who already likes Hunter-style tabletop games, I'm keeping a close eye on this one.

New Darkest Dungeon II DLC Teased

Red Hook Studios teased another expansion for Darkest Dungeon II this week called The Butcher's Asylum, currently planned for 2027.

Details are still limited, but honestly, Darkest Dungeon announcing something called The Butcher's Asylum pretty much sells itself.

New Indie Horror: In Full Bloom

Released November 5 on PC, In Full Bloom has a wonderfully strange premise: you're caring for a mysterious blob-like creature that keeps growing as it eats its way through the environment.

The game's style is reportedly influenced by Tim Burton and Junji Ito, which is a combination that's immediately going to get my attention.

Books & Podcasts

23 Horror YouTubers Wrote a Book Together

23 horror YouTubers collaborated on a horror anthology called Tales from the Tube. The project was highlighted October 30 and brings together creators from the online horror community into one anthology collection.

For people who already spend ridiculous amounts of time watching paranormal investigations, horror retrospectives, cryptid videos, and creepy YouTube rabbit holes, this seems like a pretty natural crossover.

A New Book Digs Into Stephen King's Adaptations

Announced November 3, the Adapting King trilogy from Harker Press tackles more than 30 Stephen King adaptations, examining the process of translating King's stories from the page to film and television.

Considering just how wildly King's adaptations range from classics to... well... The Lawnmower Man, there's certainly plenty to talk about.

Silent Night, Deadly Night Gets a Novelization

The upcoming Silent Night, Deadly Night movie is also receiving an official novelization, with the book scheduled for release later this month. The announcement surfaced November 2.

Because apparently Christmas desperately needed more axe murderers.

Real World Paranormal

Pilots Report a Pill-Shaped UFO Over Ohio

Here's our weird one for the week.

Pilots reportedly spotted a pill-shaped unidentified object hovering near their aircraft over Ohio. The encounter was reported to air traffic control, but the object apparently didn't appear on radar. The report surfaced October 29, putting it right on the edge of this week's news cycle.

That obviously doesn't mean "aliens." There are plenty of possible explanations for unidentified objects seen from aircraft.

Still...

When the description includes pilots + strange hovering object + nothing showing on radar, you've officially earned a spot in Weekly Fright.

Researchers Look at Consciousness Near Death

A newly reported study examined signs of consciousness in people brought back from the brink of death, adding another piece to the decades-long debate surrounding near-death experiences and what, exactly, happens to consciousness when the body begins shutting down. The research was highlighted November 2.

I'm always interested in these stories because they're sitting right on that strange border between neuroscience and something we still don't completely understand.

Archive X Asks if Demons and Aliens Could Be Connected

And finally, we're ending on a beautifully weird one.

The November 5 finale of Archive X: Unexplained Phenomena explores reported demonic attacks and alien encounters and asks whether apparently unrelated paranormal experiences could potentially share some sort of common origin. The series draws from material housed at Rice University's Center for the Impossible and is hosted by Jeffrey J. Kripal, a professor of religious thought at Rice.

The episode even digs into the strange overlap between UFO beliefs, exorcism, spiritual warfare, and reports of non-human intelligence.

Is any of that proof that demons and aliens are secretly the same thing?

Of course not.

Is it exactly the kind of bizarre rabbit hole we enjoy around here?

Absolutely.
