Your weekly rundown of horror, paranormal, and the unexplained!‍ ‍

Movies & Streaming

  • Scream 7 hits streaming

    • The latest Ghostface entry officially lands on Paramount+ May 28, after becoming the highest-grossing film in franchise history (~$214M worldwide).
      [superherohype.com]

      • Me personally, I think the new relaunch of the series has been phenomenal, and if you haven’t seen these, they’re VERY good imo. A real return to form and a 90’s feel if youre into that age of slasher.

  • 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple shifting opinions…

    • While it underperformed theatrically, critics and horror fans are rallying behind it on streaming, calling it one of the year’s most haunting entries. [yahoo.com]

  • Return to Silent Hill flips from flop to curiosity watch

    • Initially slammed (18% RT), it’s now finding a second life via streaming curiosity clicks—people love a trainwreck. [collider.com]

      • This series continues to be one that I feel is NEVER done as well in film format as it was in games. SH1 is still one of the best horror gaming experiences I’ve ever had.

  • Just wanted to highlight how INSANELY stacked horror is right now between HOKUM, Obsession, Passenger, and The Backrooms film - this may be the most stacked horror month in recent, and possible ALL of my memory. Truly a time to be alive as a horror fan and no signs of stopping with TONS of young talent at the helm (looking at you Curry Barker).

Horror Gaming

  • Jason Voorhees officially releases in Dead by Daylight
One of the biggest headlines this week—Jason is being added as a killer, continuing DBD’s push to stack iconic horror licenses.

    • New killer reveal + massive livestream recap for Dead by Daylight
Behaviour capped a 13-hour stream with a new killer tease/reveal, showing they’re doubling down on event-driven hype cycles.
      [getjumpscared.com]

      • This to me is VERY interesting. Michael Myers left the game due to the license expiring, and is now in his own titular game through the developer that made the Friday the 13th game, and now with a quick swap, Jason takes Micheal’s spot in DbD. Very funny how things work out, and how similar some parts of Jason’s kit are reminiscent of Micheal’s powers in the Halloween game…I may do a more in depth post on this, and Jason’s entry in the DbD franchise soon…

  • The Outlast Trials ongoing updates (Season content continues)
New seasonal content (“Prime Time” updates and challenge rotations) keeps the game alive with limited-time rewards.
    [bloody-dis...usting.com]

    • This game is fantastic and imo for some reason falls under the radar more so than the single player predecessors. Trials is amazing and the progression, procedural elements and replayability factor are honestly a breath of fresh air in the horror genre of gaming.

Books & Podcasts

  • Books

    • May horror releases still rolling out strong
New titles from names like Nat Cassidy, T.J. Payne, and Aimee Pokwatka highlight a continued shift toward psychological dread, experimental narrative structures, and government/conspiracy horror elements.
      [reactormag.com]

  • Podcasts

    • Horror podcast scene is thriving weekly

      • Shows like Weird Darkness, Spooked, and Within the Mist are pumping out fresh episodes almost daily. [listennotes.com]

    • Creator collabs gaining traction

      • A recent 2026 Horror Novel Panel episode brings authors together to talk trends—something we’re seeing more of as the space matures. [youtube.com]

Real-World Paranormal

  • Paranormal podcasts remain the heartbeat of the scene

    • Shows like Morbid, Spooked, and Paranormal Mysteries continue to dominate listener charts with firsthand encounter stories, historical hauntings, and cryptid/UFO crossovers [goodpods.com]

  • Audience appetite is growing for “true” unexplained content

    • The continued rise of daily/weekly paranormal storytelling podcasts shows people want real-feeling horror, not just fiction, and community-submitted encounters are becoming the backbone of the genre.

      • This is interesting and follows the r/nosleep method of horror stories from years back, just thought the real world replicating art symbology here was interesting.
